About TokenTally
Built for teams who hate guessing their AI bill.
TokenTally is an independent project focused on AI cost planning, model comparison, and clearer budgeting decisions. We built it because too many teams still make LLM decisions with rough spreadsheets, stale pricing tabs, or one-off prompt tests that do not survive contact with production.
The goal is simple: help builders, operators, and finance-minded teams estimate AI spend with enough clarity that they can defend a model choice before launch, not after invoices or escalations force the conversation.
Builder DNA
Why we care about tokens
We built TokenTally after repeatedly running into the same problem: pricing changed, model choices changed, and every team wound up rebuilding the same budgeting sheet from scratch. The product exists to replace that ad hoc process with something faster, clearer, and easier to audit.
We care less about novelty and more about practical usefulness. If a page does not help someone choose a model, estimate a real workload, or explain a pricing tradeoff clearly, it should not be on the site.

Builder empathy
TokenTally is built by operators who run LLM workloads daily—we fix the pain we feel ourselves.
Why TokenTally exists
- Most teams still estimate AI spend from incomplete prompts, rough assumptions, or screenshots of provider pricing pages.
- Finance and engineering often do not use the same frame. One side sees a rate card, the other sees a system design. TokenTally tries to bridge that gap.
- Pricing transparency matters, but interpretation matters too. The site is meant to help users compare real workloads, not just stare at token prices.
- When providers change pricing, context limits, or positioning, we want those changes reflected in a way normal teams can actually use.
Transparency commitments
- Every pricing update should include a linked citation and capture timestamp.
- We review the calculator from the perspective of product, engineering, and finance, not just SEO or traffic growth.
- We are intentionally shifting the site toward original decision-support content, not just more pricing pages.
- When we are uncertain, we would rather mark limitations clearly than imply false precision.
